The automotive industry is home to some of the world’s most demanding applications. Sensors must be manufactured to high specifications to reliably balance the sensitivity the application demands with the durability necessary to withstand the incredible physical forces involved. Some applications require sensors which can withstand enormous pressures (300 lb. step test and/or 250 lb. cantilevered load test per UL 508) without a single incidence of false tripping when mounted within 1” of a resistance welding electrode carrying up to 20,000 ampere RMA (45,000 ampere peak).
The Namco WFI sensors are designed to pass the NEMA noise tests and exhibit no false activations from walkie-talkies or other in-plant noises. Our sensors also feature weld splatter resistant housings designed for use in welding environments, with latching short circuit protection designed to prevent automatic restarts. A typical application is body position confirmation prior to start of automated welding.
